Today I have been checking out some apps from the Windows store. So far the Facebook, Linkedn, and Twitter apps work really good. Once you log in to the apps, all your notifications will show up on your desktop. If you place a game at full screen, they will notify you once you have quit the game. I will update this post in the future as I have more time with the apps.
