In April of 2019, the Carnival Triumph will be transformed into Carnival Sunrise. Looking at the website, this ship will be sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale with rooms ranging from $229 per person for interior rooms to $549 per person for a suite. Also, balcony rooms will be in the ballpark of $379 per person.
The newly remodeled Sunrise will be sailing to places like Cuba, Nassau, Half Moon Cay, Princess Cay, Ocho Rios, and Freeport. The Cuba trips are on the 5 day cruises which will overnight in Havana. The Cuba trips looks like it will start in January of 2020.
The Triumph was built in 1999 and sported 2,758 rooms. The makeover will include an additional 115 rooms and about a dozen food and drink outlets. Also in the plans is addition of a ropes course, miniature golf, and basketball court. The makeover will take about two months and costing about half of the original cost of making the ship in 1999. That is a whopping $200 million dollars. Other articles state that this will be the most expensive makeover to date.
The Sunrise will give cruisers a good chance to sail on a new ship in 2019. After the remodel, the new Sunrise will practically be a new ship. Also the prices are very attractive to boot. I was surprised on the price they are offering on a ship that costs this much to remodel. So sail on cruisers.
